Ethics

At Environmental Solutions (Asia), we see ethics as the overarching value of our business. Ethics respectively acting in an ethical way means to uphold all values, to be honest to all our stakeholders and to engage only in business operations that comply with our values, like fuelling Circular Economy, Zero Waste and contributing to a better tomorrow.

Business ethics is required in two contexts:

First, it sets rules and norms for the individual employee interacting with customers, coworkers, supervisors and other employees.

Secondly, it sets the same rules and norms for the whole company interacting with their stakeholders. Therefore, we inform all employees about business rules and encourage them to infuse a common set of rules and norms into their everyday actions. 

Every company has an inherent set of ethics, even if it is not purposefully set by an ethics commission. The most important transmission of ethical values employees experience is the behaviour of the management. Especially the board has a role model effect, transmitting inherent company values to the employees which should not be underestimated.

Environmental Solutions (Asia) was founded upon these core values – Ethics, Integrity, Ownership, Frugality and Safety – purposefully, as a code of conduct for our business. Our values support us to “do things right”. Since our foundation, we decided to emphasise sustainability in particular as one of our most important values in our everyday business operations. Sustainability is a rather unambiguous term, therefore we first used the academic concept of the triple bottom line (Economic, ecologic and social sustainability) to clarify the different aspects of sustainability that are important for us. As recycling supports a sustainable transition of the world towards circular economy, we put a special emphasis on ecological sustainability. Next, we decided on how we can implement this rather abstract concept in our main business operations.

We concentrated on creating net zero carbon in our business activities, supported by efficient procedures and our own renewable energy creation. Also, as a recycling company, we decided to adopt the concept of Circular economy and Zero Waste. 

Together with our classical ethical values, this enables us to “do the things right” so we can work every day to have a positive impact in terms of all aspects of sustainability in Singapore and beyond.
