The ecological effects of oil exploration on the local environment are devastating: In the Niger mangrove delta, a former habitat of various birds, mammals and fish, more than 500,000 barrel of oil leak into the environment per year!
This does not only lead to a loss of biodiversity, but also to social consequences: People struggle to survive as their livelihoods are destroyed – profits from oil exploration mainly benefit corrupt structures and multinational companies. In various other regions such as Lago Agrio in Ecuador or Western Siberia in Russia people and nature face similar difficulties.
When sourcing diesel from packaging waste, we avoid negative consequences and provide a cleaner source of energy for a smooth transition to a circular economic system.
